Eman and I had to do some magic to get the server upgraded to 1.17.1. Apparently, the new server requires a whole new Java major version which was not easy to load. Additionally, the Spigot server had issues so we had to run native for a bit until we got that resolved. Things appear to be running pretty well so far, although I’m still seeing a little lag at times. Let us know if anyone has problems!

The new version has some cool new stuff.

Glow Squid – It is a squid with a bright texture, when killed it drops ink sacs that glow and they can be used to make texts on signs to glow and it can craft glow item frames.

Axolotl – This is a fish that spawns in lush caves and can be picked up with a bucket. To breed this fish you need tropical fish or a bucket of tropical fish.

Goat – Goats spawn in mountains and they jump up to 5 blocks high! They can headbutt players and ram trees. They will attack anything near it when it is around for more than ten seconds. They drop 0-2 mutton.

Warden – Spawns in new Deep Dark Biom and is blind. It can sense you by the vibrations you make. It is very powerful so don’t approach without Diamond or Netherite Armor. It will attack anyone nearby and it is roughly 50% larger than the iron golem.

New items:

Amethyst Shard – Used to make spy glasses and tinted glass.

Brushes – Can brush off layers on certain blocks

Bucket of Powder Snow – You can get this by putting a bucket in a cauldron with powder snow or using it on a block of powder snow.

Spyglass – Can be used to see farther (zoom)

Copper Ore – Used to make copper ingots that can later be used to make copper blocks and cut copper blocks/slabs. Copper has oxidation which will slowly make the copper degradable. To prevent this honeycomb can be used to stop the oxidation. (I’ve added this to the Sorter so raw ore can be placed and it will automatically be smelted into ingots and stored in a chest on the right side, second section, top row.

Pointed Dripstone – Like stalactites and stalagmites. You can equip it by breaking it with a trident. If dropped on a player, it can damage their health.

Lightning Rod – This can be used to attract lightning within a 64 block radius. It can be placed both vertically and horizontally.

Some of the existing biomes such as the plains, desert and the ocean have evolved over time and 3 new biomes have been added:

• Deep Dark – Found very deep in the mines of the Overworld.
• Dripstone Caves – Have stalactites and stalagmites in different forms across caves
• Lush Caves – Has plant life growing everywhere
