I decided I wanted to really fix up the castle junction. I added a bridge over to a neighboring mountain and built that up. I added a mix of stone brick, cobble, and plain stone to give it an old castle feel. I moved the torches from on top of the battlements to the walls below them. Added several new balcony layers with battlements. And, moved the station inside along with an automated redstone door for additional protection from mobs. Several of the tiered layers have overhangs to protect specifically from spiders and there should be no way for them to get up top. Could probably use some proper decoration on the inside though.
Here’s what the automatic door looks like from the outside. There are levers to force it to open manually when not in a cart but you have to close it from the same side you opened it. A button does not allow enough time to get through and you do not want that door to close on you! A mechanism to have one lever open while one on the inside to close is possible but would be very complex and unnecessary since this is supposed to be a rail door.

The redstone mechanics are all hidden in the walls, but if you want to see how the door in the Devl dome station which is a replica of. It’s actually pretty easy to make.

Here is new walkway between mountain towers:

And here is a view from that highest tower:

I opted for cut stone on the corners and a smattering of stone brick:

I also used sideways stairs to make slit style windows like you would see in a castle. Nothing climbing through those!
